A Bit About Lucy

Lucy is a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 15 years experience across the NHS, specialist rehabilitation, elite sport, and expedition physiotherapy. She is committed to evidence-based, individualised care, helping every client achieve their best outcomes.

After graduating with First Class Honours in Physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham in 2007, Lucy began her NHS career, building a strong foundation in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic rehabilitation. For the past 12 years, she has worked at the Flint House National Police Rehabilitation Centre near Reading, supporting officers recovering from complex injuries and trauma. This experience shaped her structured, goal-driven approach and ability to manage both acute and long-standing conditions with confidence.

Alongside her clinical work, Lucy has worked internationally as an expedition and sports physiotherapist, treating ski injuries in the French Alps, providing therapy for athletes at the X-Games, and serving as the Lead Physiotherapist for the Strive Challenge (Link to Strive), supporting expeditions with Sir Richard Branson and a global community of change makers.

Lucy founded Optimist Physiotherapy to deliver personal, hands-on-care. Her practice combines manual therapy, acupuncture, and tailored exercise programmes, specialising in musculoskeletal injuries, sports rehabilitation, acute and chronic back pain, pre and post-operative recovery, and acute and chronic neck pain.

A lifelong athlete, Lucy has competed for Wales in hockey, lacrosse, and 400m hurdles, and represented Great Britain as an age-group sprint triathlete. She has completed an Ironman, cycled 3,200 miles across the U.S. in eight days for RAAM, and, during pregnancy, cycled around Ireland and swum between the Isles of Sicily. She continues to challenge herself in HYROX and other endurance events, maintaining strength and wellbeing through training at ADVHQ in Henley-on-Thames (Link to ADVHQ). These experiences give her a unique understanding of overcoming physical challenges, which she brings to every patient - helping them regain strength, confidence, and independence.
